Say 'I Do' On Television

After Rakhi Sawant posed the question, “Mujhse shaadi karoge?” to the public, another channel came up with a reality show, Vivaah, that will arrange marriages for couples on TV.

While there are numerous shows devoted to love and dating, marriage was a different matter. The Devdaas queen, Madhuri Dixit’s Shubh Vivaah was the first show on Indian TV to enter that territory in 2001, but failed to woo audiences at the time.

“If it’s well-packaged and manages to captivate viewers, it could work,” says media analyst Anil Wanvari, “Marriage is a delicate subject. Girls in India lead a comparatively sheltered life.”

Anuradha Prasad, the production house’s managing director feels that this show is bound to be a success as marriage has great significance in the Indian context. “Every parent is looking for a groom or bride on matrimonial sites and in newspapers for their children. If you put a show together well and the audience is able to relate to it, it’s bound to be a success,” she says.

The show’s host, Mohnish Behl, says there are no such risks involved. “We will just introduce the boy and girl and their families to each other, give them the required information and make them answer important questions. Where the candidates take it from there is their business. There is no prize money or competition involved at all." He also adds that a show like this will work as it provides a service and has an anti-dowry message.

Why was Abhishek Awasthi thrown out of Item Girl's house

Rakhi Sawant and Abhishek Awasthi had an argument after which Abhishek was thrown out of the house by Rakhi. The argument started after Abhishek brought in a friend to discuss a project with Rakhi.

When the item girl was discussing the course of her career Abhishek poked his nose and gave his point of view. Rakhi Sawant didn't liked that and she shouted at Abhishek. Abhishek Awasthi then lost his temper and gave his piece of mind to Rakhi upon which she asked her live in partner to leave the house immediately.

Abhishek who felt insulted at this left the house with his friend. Abhishek later confirmed that it was a small argument which got escalated into a big fight.

Rakhi Sawant wants to fit into the image of the girl-next-door. And what are the qualities that she want in her husband-to-be? Marriage on TV - Usurp Reality

Put the final nail in the coffin of privacy: 'item girl' Rakhi Sawant is now offering herself up in marriage to the winner of her upcoming TV show Rakhi ka Swayamvar. "I've been a 'public property' and owe everything to reality shows. So why not get married through one?", Rakhi has been quoted as saying, adding that the announcement of her networked nuptials came as a surprise even to her immediate family with whom she had not discussed her plans.

TV's continuing obsession with ever-new ways to violate privacy raises a number of questions about mass media and how they shape and define what we call 'reality'.

The bride-in-waiting Rakhi Sawant has chosen to search for her real life-partner on Imagine’s new reality show Rakhi Ka Swayamvar. Rakhi is taking matters of the heart into her own hands with a nationwide search for her perfect husband along with the support of the audiences. After exhaustive challenges and eliminations, Rakhi will take the saat-phere with her husband in a grand ceremony that will be a fitting finale to this unique journey, and everyone is invited.
Rakhi Ka Swayamvar is a concept that has never seen before on television. The show promises to reveal a seldom-seen side of Rakhi and also provide an insightful glimpse of a roller coaster ride of emotions and tribulations. The ultimate selection of the groom will be
made by Rakhi herself with the active help and participation of the audiences.

15 prospective grooms will be found from across the length and breadth of the country through an extensive all-media audition process. As a starting point, interested, prospective grooms will need to send in their profiles for selection. This will be followed by multi-city face to face meetings where these prospective grooms will be shortlisted.

Rakhi wants to show us that in the voyeuristic soap opera of borrowed reality, there is vicarious life, and love, and marriage. How much more of what we call reality will 'reality' TV usurp?

Even Rakhi ka Swayamvar is Inspired

I mean this is something amazing!!! The soon to be aired NDTV Show Rakhi Ka Swayamvar is inspired by a daily soap.

Yes...we thought it was an original idea that struck creative minds but it is even inspired from something that we curse for spoiling our minds daily.

Rakhi Sawant’s recent and sudden groom-hunt is certainly doing the rounds, but Marathi Mulgi is taking a plunge deriving inspiration from not a book- How to have a successful Swayamvar rather it’s a daily that had her convinced to find a soul mate for herself.

In one of the recent interviews, Rakhi opened up and asserted that she got this lovely idea of settling down with a right guy after watching Manish Goswami’s daily Dehleez. She was very much impressed by the lead actress Preeti Gandwani’s character that she felt it’s about time
to find a life partner for herself. The show that airs on NDTV Imagine
will soon see some popular faces.

For some, inspiration comes from most unlikely places!

Groom of Her Rakhi Choice

Rakhi Sawant never ceases to amaze us. Controversy’s most-adored chum,
Rakhi Sawant is all set to helm bridedom soon.

rakhi

And guess who is her groom of choice? “I’d like to marry Rahul Gandhi,
but I know I can’t reach there,” she says.

But that doesn’t help restrain her sharp tongue. Ask her if all this
marriage ‘drama’ is to garner attention and she shoots back at the
speed of 40-words-per-second, “Main media ki beti hoon aur sab kuch
media ke saamne hi karti hoon. I’m not one of those who will undo her
husband’s denim button and get clicked. Main jo hoon, woh hoon!”

After taking a dig at Akshay-Twinkle’s by-now infamous ‘ramp squib’,
Sawant ki ghata fell on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. “If she can get
Abhishek, why can’t I get the man I’m looking for?”

The viewers will get quite excited to see her interrogate candidates
on the reality show. And Rakhi’s as kicked. “Even if I fall for the
first finalist I see, I’d still like to meet the other 15. Test drive
samajhte hain na?” she wraps up with a laugh.
