NDTV Imagine’s plans for ‘Rakhi Ka Swayamvar’ has kicked off with roaring response from prospective grooms from across the world. In just 20 days of the show announcement, NDTV Imagine has received a thunderous response from Rakhi’s admirers. There has been a flood of entries received from across the globe via phone, email, sms and even personal deliveries to the NDTV Imagine office in Mumbai.

12,515 hopefuls have already sent in their profiles in the hope that they will win Rakhi’s heart and walk away with her hand in marriage. From businessmen to models and from NRI’s to doctors, and engineers, these prospective grooms come from all walks of life. Delhi tops the list with 2,465 entries where Mumbai stands second with 1,980 entries and Lucknow is in the same league with 1,830 entries. The calls, sms’s and emails are still flowing from the cities like Nagpur, Indore, Patna, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Jaipur and Ahmedabad. Most entries are in the broad age group of 18 to over 35.

A 18 years old Ramesh from Patna thinks that he can fulfill the need of love and affection that Rakhi is looking for and hence he is the perfect match for her. 25 years old Sanjay a bachelor from Mumbai really appreciates Rakhi’s bindass attitude and is looking forward to be short listed because he thinks that he is mature enough to support and guide her in every aspect of life.

Reacting to the overwhelming response to her swayamvar, a super-excited Rakhi said, “I want to thank everybody for their continued support of me. This huge response has proved to everybody that my swayamvar and shaadi is not a joke. My only wish is to find a person who will always be my support system and will respect me for what I am. Rakhi Sawant surely knows how to be in news without any help of a PR. At present the controversial girl is featured all around media with her new reality show on NDTV Imagine, Rakhi Ka Swayamvar, which would make Rakhi meet her future husband. We spoke with some of the television celebs and tried to find out, what they think about this new show, whether they would ever have contested in such a show in which Rakhi is involved and also whether the show would earn TRP’s for the channel.

Chetan Hansraj: I don’t know much about the show but I think it’s an over hyped show.

No, I would never have been a contestant on such a show. As far as channel’s TRP is concerned, I don’t want to comment on it.

Saurav Pandey: Rakhi is a good friend of mine. I wouldn’t like to say something negative but actually I was wondering that which guy would like to marry Rakhi Sawant. I am just waiting for the show very eagerly, just to see that what type of guys will come to marry Rakhi Sawant. Guys like Salman Khan or Shah Rukh Khan.

No, I wouldn’t like to marry her as she is a good friend and I am happy to be her friend only. But I believe the channel will earn a lot of TRP from this show because everyone is looking forward to this fun and drama filled show.

Amit verma: I am speechless, what do I say but yes, I feel it’s a very unique concept; its weird as well as unique way of getting married. But I would definitely not like to try or experiment such ways of wedding. It is something that only Rakhi can do as she can only experiment on such issues. I respect her for that.

I wouldn’t like to marry her as I think Rakhi is better as a sister and I would love to have a sister as mischievous as Rakhi. I think the show will give the channel a lot of publicity and TRP. Even I am looking forward to this show. I think this show will help the channel to gain back its position.

Ravi kishen: It’s a fantastic concept. I am happy about the show and may god bless Rakhi to get the best possible soul mate this time. She is a lonely soul and she deserves someone who can understand her well. People always tell her dramebaaz and all but I think she is a nice girl.

I know many guys will turn up and would die to marry her but I can’t because I am already married. If I would have been a bachelor then too I don’t think so I would have been a perfect match for her.

Sharad kelkar: I don’t know much about the show, but yes I have heard about this show and its inspired by the show called bachelors. But good this concept is being used in the Indian television.

Rakhi's Inspiration Preeti Gidwani

Rakhi Sawant, the bride-to-be is eagerly looking forward to get on with the auditions for her prospective grooms.

In a recent interview to one of the media publications, she went on to say that this lovely idea of settling down with a right guy by conducting a 'Swayamvar' on NDTV Imagine struck to her after seeing the character of the lead in NDTV Imagine's show Dehleez, Preeti Gidwani.

When Preeti got to know this, the actress was pretty excited and said "I am so happy to hear this. I have no words coming out at the moment, but I am glad that she stated my name".

On Rakhi's daring step to conduct a Swayamvar, Preeti quips, "Rakhi is very bold, nice and a confident girl. I like her Bindaas attitude".

When asked her about the qualities in her that must have impressed Rakhi, a bewildered Preeti states "You should be asking this question to Rakhi. And please let me know the answer she gives. Having said this, I feel the manner in which I am shown balancing my professional and personal life in the show must have impressed her. You remember the show Aap Ki Adalat, hosted by Rajat Sharma, which is aired on NDTV India News channel. Rakhi Sawant was interviewed about her reality show on NDTV Imagine, called Rakhi ka Swayamwar. The questions asked to her along with the corresponding answers Rakhi Sawant gave were as follows:

Interviewer: Tell us something about your new reality show?
Rakhi: In this reality show, there will be 20 contestants. From them, one lucky and capable man will become my life partner. The process will take three months and in this time, they will have to undergo several tests. I want to know to what extent they can go to win my heart!

Interviewer: Are you confident of finding the perfect match?
Rakhi: I have full faith in Jesus. Duniya bhar se heere aayenge auditions ke liye... (‘gems’ from across the world will come for the auditions). God will help me choose the right person.

Interviewer: What qualities are you looking for in Mr Right?
Rakhi: I’m looking for a complete package. He should be as smart as SRK, have a good physique like Salman Khan and an attitude like Aamir Khan. For me, money is not important; what matters is intelligence. I want him to be as intelligent as Dhirubhai Ambani. He should be an understanding, straightforward and loving partner. Vo apni family se pyaar kare, apni behen, bhai, bhabhi, sab se pyaar kare (he should love his whole family)...only then can he love me.

Interviewer: Why only Rakhi Sawant and not any other girl?
Rakhi: It was I who approached them for this. I want to get married openly and don’t want to hide anything from my fans. I am a God-fearing, straightforward and honest human being. At least, I’m not like others jo doosron ka ghar todkar apna ghar basate hai (they break a home to build theirs)... though I don’t want to name anybody.


Interviewer: There are rumours that you have shed weight for the show...
Rakhi: Yes, I have shed 10 kilos for the show because I want to look stunning on my wedding day.

Rakhi Sawant's Swayamwara!!!

I think I have started shocking you a bit with my headlines. But, this news even shocked me. Well, Rakhi is all set to take part in a 'swayamvara' on a reality TV show. Swayamwara is a ceremony in which the bride chooses her man from among a those present and then both the bride and the groom tie the knot. This kind of ceremony was held mainly in the past where the Kings held this ceremony for their daughters.

But in Rakhi's case it is a television channel which is organizing this event for Rakhi. According to the format of the show Rakhi will choose from among 15 grooms and the show will be aired on NDTV Imagine. The show has been named as Rakhi Ka Swayamvara. This show will take help of viewers to decide on her perfect man. The timing of the show hasn't been announced yet.

The first of its kind show will trace Rakhi's journey from selecting a groom to the marriage ceremony. Commenting on her decision to marry this way, Rakhi said: "I want to solemnize my marriage in the presence of all my fans who have been supportive of me throughout and what better way than getting married on national television?"

"I am looking for a companion who is warm, affectionate, someone who can dance a little bit, who respects women for who they are, and above all who is punctual. Even Sita had her Swayamvara? so why not me?"

Rakhi says this is the right time for her to settle down. "Every young woman dreams of a perfect marriage. There is a right time in your life to get married to become a wife and a mother. I'm a cultured Indian woman with good values and I have reached a stage where I need a companion with whom I can share my love, joys, sorrows and
success. For me that time is now," she said.

Rakhi has mostly hit headlines for her outspoken ways. Though she has played bit roles in films like Main Hoon Na and done item songs in films like Krazzy 4 and 1920,
she is best remembered for the controversy involving Punjabi singer Mika when she accused him of kissing her forcibly after she had pecked on his cheeks on his birthday.

She was also seen on reality show Bigg Boss where, again, she was in the spotlight for all the wrong things. On the same show, she had declared she was dating dancer-actor Abhishek Awasthi. But they split towards the end of 2008.

Over the duration of the show, the prospective grooms will be brought together under one roof and put through a series of challenges that will test their personality, character, physical fitness, talent and also their compatibility with Rakhi.

Oh My God! What kind of a cat fight this may turn out to be. I am talking about the cat fight between the two item girls, two bombshells of the Hindi film industry, Rakhi Sawant and Sambhavna Seth. Sambhavna who is known as Bhojpuri Helen and Rakhi who is known as a dancing diva fought with each other verbally Rakhi’s birthday on 24th November, last year. It is still a matter of confusion that why did Rakhi call up Sambhavna for her birthday bash when she just wanted to fight with her. Yes folks, Rakhi had called up Sambhavna for her birthday party. Sambhavna was reluctant, but Rakhi insisted, so, Sambhavna agreed. According to Sambhavna when she arrived at the venue, Rakhi addressed her as chudail(witch). She could not take this humiliation lightly and thus she also responded with the same words and said, "Ek (chudail) toh mere saamne khadi hai". The argument then heated up.

In an another incident, last year in December, when Sambhavna Seth participated in the reality show on Colors, Dancing Queen, she again hit Rakhi by remarks. She stated that even if Rakhi joined her on the show Dancing Queen, she won't be doing something new i.e Rakhi is over with her controversies and won't be creating ripples through the show.

She further quoted ,"I have seen what she can do and I don’t want to see any further wonders from her. I don’t miss her on the show at all. Rakhi is quite senior in our league. She has done various reality shows and she has also become a judge. For her, it’s like, ’been there done that’. There is no sense in her coming to Dancing Queen because she has reached a senior level. And even if she comes, there is no issue, but I am not at all missing her. Rakhi has shown whatever she could have. Now it’s her chance to see what I do. I am just starting and all I need is good wishes from her. She is of my elder sister’s age. I agree she has maintained herself well but age-wise and experience-wise she is older and she should be left at that level. I am only missing her blessings on the show and she should give me just that."

Last year in July Rakhi Sawant, the most talented drama and controversy queen, appeared in a new series of reality chat show as a host. The show was The Rakhi Sawant Show and was aired on Zoom Tv. Rakhi Sawant was given this opportunity to host a chat show due to her increasing demand and popularity, especially after Big Boss and Nach Baliye 3. Rakhi did this job perfectly and lived up to her name. She was like a curious, innocent child on the show and was never her outspoken self.

Rakhi Sawant first guest at the show was none other than the perfectionist, Aamir Khan. Aamir had appeared on the show with his Ghajini look.
