The bold and the beautiful Rekha

Bhanurekha Ganesan, popularly known to the whole world as Rekha was born on 10 October 1954 and is an Indian actress who has appeared in Bollywood movies. Well-known for her acting abilities, simplicity and acknowledged as one of the talented actresses of Hindi cinema, Rekha started her career in 1966 as a child artist in the Telugu film Rangula Ratnam. Despite the success of several of her early flicks it was not until the mid-to-late 1970’s that she got fame as an actress.
Rekha made her debut as an actress in the successful Kannada movie Goa Dalli CID 999 in 1969. In that same year, she featured in her first Bollywood film, Anjana Safar. She had two films released in 1970: the Telugu film Amma Kosam and the Hindi movie Sawan Bhadon, which was considered her acting debut in Bollywood. She had to learn Hindi, as her naturally spoken language was Tamil. Sawan Bhadon became a superhit and Rekha a overnight star. Despite the success of her movies, she was often roped in for her looks.

She subsequently got several offers but nothing of substance. Her characters were mostly just of a glamour lass. She appeared in several commercially successful movies like Kahani Kismat Ki, Rampur Ka Lakshman and Pran Jaaye Par Vachan Na Jaaye, yet Rekha was not regarded for her acting abilities.Some of her most notable films during the decade include the international movie Kama Sutra: A Tale Of Love and the commercially successful Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi in 1996 and Umraao Jaan.

Elesh prior in Swayamvar decided to shift to Mumbai

Rakhi Sawant made it clear earlier in Rakhi Ka Swayamvar her that the person with whom she’ll get married will have to stay in Mumbai with her as she would not leave her profession. Toronto-based entrepreneur Elesh Parujanwala who was selected as her life partner decided to shift to Mumbai from Toronto. Elesh was astonishingly unruffled and clear about his future plans. He said that there won’t be any need for a long-distance marriage, or for Rakhi to accompany him in Toronto.

The man was happy when he came on Rakhi Ka Swayamvar. Elesh also mentioned that he grew up on a fastener diet of Bollywood in Toronto. He used to watch Rakhi Sawant in her movies and her music videos. At that time, he never thought he had one day be asking her hand for marriage. While we're on the subject, the decision to tie the knot with Elesh above the other short-listed participants came from Rakhi’s brother Ravi Kishan, who according to the grapevine reprimands her powerfully for even considering any of the other men.

Ravi also said that Elesh always stood out. The fewer mentioned about some of the other contestants, the better. One of them, Manmohan Tiwari had so much attitude; it was almost like he was trying to be small screen’s Ravi Kishan. Unhappily NDtv Imagine encouraged him to behave the way he do it.

Nutan

Nutan was a very famous actress of her times and she has appeared in many successful Bollywood films of 1950s and 1960s. Chiefly considered for her acting abilities, Nutan was acknowledged as an talented dramatic heroine, and her acting skills often grossed praises and rave reviews from the critics and her fans. Nutan has been honoured with the Filmfare Best Actress Awardfive times.

Nutan started her career in Hindi cinema when she was just fourteen years old. She appeared in Hamari Beti in the year 1950. The movie was produced by her mother, Shobhana. Then in 1952 the actress was declared as the winner of Miss India contest.She was featured in Seema and also bagged her first Filmfare Best Actress Award. She was then seen in a rom-com titled Paying Guest, opposite most respectable star of Bollywood Dev Anand. In 1959 Nutan was signed in two hit movies like Anari and Bimal Roy's Sujata. In the 1960’s and 1970’s the lady gave various hits to Hindi cinema like Chhalia, Bandini, Saraswatichandra, Devi and Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki .

The talented actress got her third Best actress Filmfare award in 1964, for her outstanding performance in Bandini, her fourth Filmfare award for Milanwas a great success. She starred opposite Amitabh Bachchan in 1973's Saudagar, for which she got a sixth Filmfare Best actress nomination. The list of praises was a never ending story for her. In 1978, she made a come back to the film industry with Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki and was honoured with the eight Filmfare career nomination and won her fifth Filmfare best actress award. Again she took break from work for almost three pretty long years and was seen in Saajan ki Saheli in the year 1981. In the enduring 1980’s she enacted characters in films like Meri Jung, Naam and Karma which were all successful hits. For Meri Jung Nutan got a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her very last movie released worldwide was Kanoon Apna Apna in 1989. She died in 1991 of cancer. Two of her notable projects Naseebwala and Insaniyat were released after her death in 1991.

Rakhi on Pati Patni Aur Woh

Rakhi Sawant’s reality show Pati Patni Aur Woh that is aired on NDTV Imagine has earned the wrath of women and child development minister Krishna Tirath for child rights abuse after a Delhi-based NGO filed a complaint against the show.




The show treats children and toddlers in an inhuman manner. NDTV Imagine have received a notice from the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) asking to stop the telecast of the show Pati Patni Aur Woh immediately.

The Indian version of the international show Baby Borrowers, has Rakhi Sawant and her boyfriend Elesh Parujanwala and four other celebrity couples playing parents to children as young as six months or less for a month.

The show depicts novice actors trying to pacify a crying toddler. Similar protests have led to the ban of Baby Borrowers in a number of countries, including the UK.

Shahid a real hero, saves Rakhi's life

Item song queen, Miss. Rakhi Sawant is all very grateful to the hero of Dil Bole Hadippa. She is mulling over Shahid Kapoor as the dashing star saved her life during the shoot of a song sequence Discowale Kishko…at the sets of the film.




In an interview Rakhi stated, “Today I’m alive, and that is just because of Shahid. I was about to meet with a fatal accident when he came to my rescue.”

Elaborating on the incident she says that while she was standing near a light stand after the shoot of a dance sequence, suddenly Shahid sipping his coffee came up to her. He just asked her to move aside and secured the light stand; she never noticed, but the stand was rickety and that light was almost dropping down on her.

Thankfully, Shahid came in at the right time for Rakhi's rescue.

“He is a really nice guy and it was fun to work with him. I also enjoyed working with a big star like Rani Mukherjee, and also told her that I am a big fan of her,” she concludes.We really hope to see Shahid making some reel life Dhoom on bikes too...afterall he is so brave. If not that we atleast wish to see this real life biker endorsing a bike brand like Hero Honda that has some really popular bikes in their kitty like Honda CB 1000R and Hero Honda Splendor.

Well, we wonder if Rakhi so charmed by her new prince charming, what happens to the ‘chosen one’ Elesh.

Rakhi Sawant in ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’

‘Dil Bole Hadippa’ is going to be released on 18 September,2009 . It is a presentation from the banner of “Yash Raj Films”. It is also the debut for Anurag Singh as a director. And most importantly it is the First time that Shahid Kapoor is pairing with Rani Mukherjee.




There are other names in the film one of them is Rakhi Sawant . After Rakhi ka Swayamvar it is going to be her first Big Screen presence. She is changing her role and look with the course of the time. All the followers would be interested to see her in this film and to what extent she has contributed in this movie.

Rakhi plays the role of Shanno Amritsari who is the desi bomb babe of the Jigri Yaar Dance Company. A dancing queen, she’s a dish who’s on everyone’s wish list.

Rambha on Rakhi's footsteps

Bollywood and Tollywood actress Rambha manages to find a groom for herself of her liking just like Rakhi Sawant. Bollywood actress and 'item girl' Rakhi Sawant hosted a much-publicised swayamvar on a popular Hindi channel for some months through which she 'selected' her Dulaah.




Rambha's brother Vasu will be hosting the swayamwaram on a popular Tamil channel. Rambha, who is said to have already been on the groom-hunt for the past many years, is now all set to find her groom on small screen.

The television channel is planning to host the swayamvaram in the form of a mega-show. We can only hope and wish that Rambha turns out as successful as Rakhi in her groom-search! Rakhi Sawant will be seen in Dil Bole Haddipa performing an item number with Rani Mukherjee.
